As a wedding photographer it is important to choose your clients as much as they choose you. When Karlyn, Lucas and I decided to meet over Skype about their wedding in Clearwater
, at the Mandalay Park and Clearwater Sailing Center
, you wonder if not meeting in person would hinder that ability to know if we would be a good match. But once the conversation began I knew not only that they were a cute and fun couple but that our personalities got along, so for me, I chose them. I was so happy to hear by the end of the conversation that they felt the same way and they chose me and booked their day. This engagement session is where I saw how well we were going to work together. The session reflected them perfectly. The fun side and certainly the loving side located at The Barn at Crescent Lake
. Since this session went so well I greatly look forward to their wedding in October.
Read more about their love story:
They met July of 2016 at a kickball league game. Not being on the same team only allowed them to have a brief moments of conversation throughout the game. But more time came after at the bar when all the friends met up. Lucas says the moment the time came that they could say more, “I cant remember exactly what I said, I probably stuttered and spoke some nonsense about Crossfit. I asked her since we both did Crossfit if I could meet up with her and do a work out at her gym the next day, she agreed and I am sure she thought I would not show up the next day to the gym. Well the next day came and I showed up. At first I think she was stunned to see that I made it. After the gym I asked for her number. We went for a casual dinner at Fresh Kitchen in St. Pete and after that I was hooked.”
Lucas sort of knew from the first few times of hanging out and dating that he was very invested in taking their relationship further and that he had fallen in love. At that time Karlyn was not looking for anything serious so Lucas just kept how he felt about her to himself. He wanted to wait for her to feel the same and did not want to scare her off. Lucas shares one of the moments he knew he wanted to marry Karlyn “When I saw her at the Brad Paisley concert in cowboy boots, jean shorts and an American flag top. That moment seeing her there I think I had a slow motion moment and I think I lost my breath on how beautiful she was and how lucky I was to be with her.
Then there was our trip to Park City Utah. We made our relationship official and that night was perfect and I knew, the next step I visualized Karlyn was the person that I was meant to be with for the rest of my life.”
Describe the proposal?
Lucas describes” We were heading to Port Canaveral for a 3 day cruise to the Bahamas to just get away from life to relax and recharge. On our way up to Orlando, we stopped in Celebration Florida to split up the drive. We left dinner that Wednesday night, when we were walking back to our room I told Karlyn that we need to be up and out the door by 0600 am. She was confused since our Cruise didn’t leave until 1600 that afternoon. She asked where we were going and I showed her on my phone. McDonald’s. She was like “What”? and I confirmed to her it was actually McDonald’s. I think she thought I was just being funny and didn’t take me serious and just dropped the conversation. The next morning came and at 0600 we left the hotel and pulled in to a McDonald’s. She said ” So you weren’t joking, we are at McDonald’s” I pulled in and was then waved at and greeted by Bob. Then she was really confused. She said ” Do you know this guy”? I Answered back with yes, and jokingly told her that she knew him too. We got out and after introductions she figured out that we were taking a private sunrise hot air balloon ride. Once we got up in the hot air balloon the mood was perfect weather was amazing and sunrise was beautiful. Half way in to the ride I looked at Karlyn and she was absolutely beautiful. I looked in to her eyes and at that moment the speech I had prepared went out the window, got super nervous and emotional. I then got down on one knee and asked Karlyn the Love of my life to marry me. She said yes and on March 15th 2018 we were engaged.”
