Michael proposed in a beautiful restaurant in Beaune, France. Dianne was not expecting the proposal at that particular moment, but was thrilled to be engaged to such a wonderful man. Michael and Diane live in Tampa and decided to marry in Ybor City so most of our family and friends could celebrate with us. Their theme for their special day was vintage (think lace and pearls). “I was inspired by the venue” states Dianne “the historic Italian Club”.
The colors chosen were Carolina blue because of Dianne attendimg law school at University of North Carolina and silver because of Michael’s last name.
For the cocktail hour they did a speakeasy theme complete with jazz music and “moonshine” bottles on the tables. We carried that theme to the reception with each table named after an actual speakeasy.
“We chose Castorina Photography & Films one because they are on the Italian Club’s preferred vendor list, but also after talking with Marilyn, I knew that she would meet our expectations” Dianne reviewed.
“We chose the Italian Club because we wanted a unique venue that could accommodate our rather large guest list. It is a beautiful historic building and it has enough space to handle the ceremony and reception which was also important” spoke Dianne.
They didn’t want there decor to be like no others so they were the DIY couple for their decorations. Michael loves books, so they incorporated them into the centerpieces. They borrowed many other items from family members. Diane made the chuppah, which is the canopy under which a Jewish wedding takes place. She used Michael’s prayer shawl as the roof. With some help from the bridesmaids, they made individual jam favors for each guest. They had a custom bobble head cake topper that looks like them. Finally, they had custom koozies with an inside joke about Seinfeld, because they love to laugh.
When Michael broke the glass, everyone yelled “Mazel tov!” and then they kissed while Pharrell Williams’ song “Happy” started. So exciting!
