When searching for a venue to hold their Sarasota wedding, Todd and Katelynn looked and looked for a place that would match their unique personalities. “When beginning the search to find a wedding venue,” the bride reminisces, “we both pictured us outside with a beautiful background. The Philippi Estate Mansion definitely delivered this for us. The Mansion is a historical site, turning 100 years old this year. It is located off the Philippi Creek, and is surrounded by multiple large oak trees plentiful with cascading Spanish moss.”
They didn’t want their wedding to like everyone else’s, so they decided to sacrificed a little extra sleep in order to have a brunch style wedding. The wedding started at 10:30AM.
“We incorporated our personalities into the wedding with food,” the bride explains, “My husband especially loves food. Whenever we travel there is a lot of research done on where and what is the best food in the area and breakfast/lunch/dinner and snacks are all planned ahead of time. We made sure we had lots of food options with your not so typical wedding food.”
“We created a bloody marry station and a fun mimosa bar,” says the groom, “with leechy, melon/honeydew, and orange options. We had hors d’oeuvres passed around, consisting of mini chicken and waffle sliders, smoked salmon canapé, and warm Brie profiteroles. For our brunch, we featured a crepe station, banana foster french toast, southern grits station, London broil carving station, biscuit bar, fruit, caprese salad shooter, with your traditional eggs, bacon, sausage, and cheesy potato casserole.” There was no shortage of food and drink choices and every guest was satisfied.
“Our colors were Lilac, Ivory, and Silver,” says the bride, blushing slightly. “As we were having a daytime wedding we wanted lighter colors. When wedding planning we went through several different colors and lilac was a favorite. We loved every minute of it and it turned out beautiful!”
The Couple Included Family That Couldn’t Attend
With family members in Thailand who were unable to attend, we wanted something where they could experience our wedding with us. It was important to have photos and video that captured our beautiful day. The most important elements of our wedding included us saying our vows, our photography/videography, and food. We also wanted food that represented us and my husband’s love for food!
Most Memorable Moments
The most memorable moments of the wedding was saying our I do’s and our first dance. [Also], we had unique weather on our wedding, considering we live in Florida. It was a very chilly day with 50 mph gusts of wind!

Bride’s Advice on Choosing a Photographer
When searching for a wedding photographer we wanted someone who had creative shots and was easy to work with.
We first met Castorina Photography…in St. Petersburg shortly after becoming engaged. Their video and photography both appealed to us. The drone video first caught our eye, then we looked at the pictures and felt like the value was there.
We also loved their style. The videography, the pictures, and even the album styles made us love Castorina Photography. As this was in the beginning of our wedding planning we didn’t book just yet, but kept their business card. We continued our research and looked at all the different photographers and videographers in the areas between Sarasota and Tampa. After researching, it was confirmed. Castorina Photography was it! We called and shortly after booked them for our wedding and couldn’t be any happier with their work!
