1. Consultation & Booking

It all starts with a consultation, where we can officially get to know one another! I want to hear your story, what’s important to you and all the wedding details. From there, we’ll work to create the perfect photography package for you. You will receive a contract and an invoice and once the deposit is paid, you’re booked!

2. Engagement Session

This is where it really gets fun! I’ll work with you to pick an amazing location, suggest some great clothing options, and we’ll have a blast shooting together! All you have to do is show up looking good and I’ll do the rest!

3. Wedding Details

Leading up to the wedding. I’ll be in contact to help plan out your big day to ensure it’s stress free. Have a wedding coordinator? Great! I’ll work with them so we’re all on the same page to give you a memorable day!

4. Your Wedding Day

The day is finally here! We will show up, ready to be by your side from the moment you get ready until the end of the night. We’ll be there to capture the hugs, joyful tears, laughter, and any awesome dance move on the dance floor! And most importantly, we’ll be there reminding you to enjoy every moment of your day.

5. Image Delivery

While you’re honeymooning, we’re hard at work editing your images! We’ll send you in 4-6 weeks a link to a personalized online gallery to share with family and friends! If you ordered an album, we’ll work on designing it at this point and deliver it to you once you approve the design.

6. Post Wedding

If there is anything else I can do for you photography-wise, eg Anniversaries let me know!

Frequent Questions

What to ask

Do You Have Insurance?

Yes we do!

Side Note: If you’re talking to a photographer and they don’t have insurance, it could be a red flag. Professional photographers should not only have equipment insurance, but they should also have liability insurance as well.

What Does The Payment Process Look Like?

Our standard is 50% at contract signing and 50% thirty days prior to wedding.

Side Note: Find out early on how the payment process works. Most companies (ours included) can help to create manageable payment plans leading up to the wedding day if our standard process doesn’t work for you.

Will You Have A Second Shooter Or Assistant With You?

Personally, I prefer to have a second shooter (a second photographer designated to capture the day with me from other angles and they can focus more on guest reactions) at every wedding, because they can really help in telling the whole story of the day. I also prefer to have an assistant (someone to help me carry & set up all my gear).

Side Note: Ask the photographer when inquiring what they consider to be an assistant. I have experience with other photographers and have found that they consider an assistant to also be a second shooter. Can be confusing!

Questions to consider:

  • Do you want photos of both the bride and groom getting ready?
  • Are you planning on hiring a photographer for 8 hours of coverage or more?
  • If you answered “yes” to any of those questions, it’s a good idea to select a photographer who will have a second shooter or one that you can add to your package.
Do You Offer Wedding Albums?

Yes we do!

Even if you don’t initially think you want an album, this is a great question to ask! Often times, after the wedding is done and you see the photos, you realize that you do actually want a wedding album. By going with a photographer that does offer albums, it’s simple to get it ordered!

Side Note: If you’re on the fence about albums, I encourage you to get one! Having a physical product that you can display in your home is a great way to easily reminisce about your special day.

Can I Add Extra Hours & How Much Do They Cost?

Yes you can add more hours. We recommend you deciding this before the day of the wedding only because we may not be able to stay longer if decided last minute. The cost depends on which photographer you have chosen.

What Do You Typically Wear While Shooting?

Personally, I like to be comfortable. I wish I could say I will show up looking as fabulous as your guest but the truth is there is no way I can work in a fancy dress or even nice/pretty shoes. I admire photographers that can dress up, maybe even wear heals and work all day. I would be dying in pain. So my crew and I will show up in all black attire, pants/shirt, top/even a comfy dress and typically sneakers/flat shoes. I hate that it may look like we are a part of the catering crew but we all need to be able to function comfortably. However, we do come with our hair and make-up done and if you make a request for dressing otherwise we are happy to accommodate your request for a different outfit as best as we can.

Side Note: While this is totally a valid question to ask, this should not necessarily be a determining factor in choosing your photographer. If you’re selecting a professional photographer, they will likely show up in appropriate attire.

How Will The Images Be Sent To Us?

Images can be delivered in a variety of ways, such as online galleries, USB drives, or physical prints. Most of the time, your images will be delivered in a beautiful online gallery. From there, you can download the image and share gallery with your friends and family.

When Will We Receive Our Images?

Typically, an average turnaround time for images is 4-6 weeks. Make sure that how long to get wedding photos back is defined in your contract so you have clarity on this. Photographers know that clients are excited to see their photos after the wedding day, though please be courteous about asking if your images are done 3 days after the wedding.

Side Note: Most photographers have multiple weddings each month which is why it can take 1-2 months for your images to be ready.

What not to ask

I Have Photos I love on Instagram and a Pinterest Board – Can You Be Sure To Take Photos Just Like Those?

While Social Media sites can be great for inspiration, don’t turn it into a giant photo checklist of images you “have to” have. When you show up to your shoot with a list of images that you feel like you need, it limits a photographer’s creativity. Hire a photographer because you like their work – not because you want them to replicate someone else’s!

Ask this instead: There’s one photo that would be really meaningful to me – can we work to capture it?

What Camera Do You Use?

Although this may seem like a great question (if you already know professional equipment) I find it not necessary. If you like the photographers work, does it really matter what they use? I have seen some of the best award winning photographers use old dated cameras and over the counter cameras to prove the point that it’s the photographer that makes the photo great and not always the gear.

Can You Edit In A Certain Style Just For My Wedding?

Please don’t ask this! If you’re hiring a photographer, make sure you like their work and how they edit.

If you love light and airy images, choose a photographer who focuses on this. If dark and moody is your vibe, pick someone who edits this way. Photographers work hard to define their editing style, so don’t ask them to change it just for your wedding.

How Would You Explain Your Photography Style?

In general I find most people do not know the names of photography styles. If you like their work then you will like the results they give you. However there are many names, styles from dark and moody to light and airy to only name a couple.

Can I Have My Cousin (Who Has A Nice Camera) Be Your Second Shooter Instead of Paying for One?

No.

I have worked many years building up a group of talented second photographers that I call on that I can trust to capture what I need on your wedding day or event. This ensures that we all work well together and successfully capture the important moments. I cannot guarantee that this will happen with your cousin at my side whom I never have worked with.
