After an elegant, ivory and rose gold ceremony, newlyweds Andrew and Ashley wanted to make sure their guests had a great time. They kept the elegant theme, using rose covered table cloths, soft candles, and mauve pink lighting. However, they decided to hire some entertainment to encourage the guests to really relax and have some fun.
“We had an hora loca, which is something a little different for this area,” the bride reminisces. “It is a Hispanic tradition, very common in Miami, that literally translates to ‘crazy hour.’ We had six performers, 2 dancers, 2 stilt walkers, and two drummers that interacted with and entertained the guests for an hour to vamp up the party to the next level. It was a surprise to our guests and everyone seemed to love it. It made for great memories and great pictures as well.”
Andrew and Ashley went through such great lengths for the reception because they really wanted the celebration aspect of their wedding to stand out. “We wanted everyone to leave feeling like they had a great time,” Ashley stresses. “We wanted our wedding to reflect us and our personalities, both together and individually. At the end of the night, if everyone left having the time of their lives, then we were happy.” There is no doubt that they accomplished their mission, as seen in the photos below.
Andrew proposed…by planning a sunset picnic on Lido Beach. He was nervous and anxious for everything to go perfectly. As the sun was setting, [he] got down on one knee and had the self-timer on the camera set up to capture the moment. On-lookers from a distance also took pictures and approached us later to send them to us.
After some time to soak it all in together, a quick sprint through a typical Florida sun shower led us to Columbia restaurant in St. Armand’s for dinner, but the night was not over. Andrew had organized for Ashley’s family to meet us out at Daiquiri Deck to celebrate and dance the night away.
The party continued to the Hard Rock Casino where we unfortunately didn’t win any money for the wedding. The next day, the surprises continued as Andrew had planned a family gathering at our house. The weekend surprises seemed to keep coming…As Andrew realized how happy Ashley was, all of his worries about everything being perfect slipped away. It was definitely a weekend that we will always remember.
Most Memorable Moments
Having all of our closest family and friends together in one place at one time stands out. There will never be another moment where we have that group of people together at the same time.
Choosing a Fun and Fresh Wedding Photographer
I very much believe in gut instinct and when I met Marilyn and Micah, I just knew somehow. They are fun and fresh and yet super professional, not to mention extremely talented. They know what it takes to get the shots that they want and do not shy away from making them happen. It is important that you trust your wedding photographer and Castorina Photography made that part easy.
