Nick and Anita met in college through mutual friends from church. “After a few years,” future bride Anita shares, “we rekindled our friendship, which turned into courting, then turning into the relationship we enjoy today. We both knew we were meant to be together after our second date!”
Nick proposed in the most unique way. “We were spending the weekend in St. Pete celebrating our birthdays,” Anita reminisces, “which are one week apart. We were ready to leave for my birthday dinner so we were both dressed up. Nick told me that he wanted to give me my birthday gift before dinner so he had me sit on the couch for it. He presents me with an album, filled with pictures of us and moments we’ve shared together. Towards the end of the album, I saw a page that read ‘Let’s continue the story…’ At this point, Nick began his introduction to his proposal and started leading up to the big question. He then tells me to turn the page and it reads ‘Will you marry me?’ I look up and find that he is on one knee, holding the engagement ring. I was absolutely stunned and overwhelmed! It was truly amazing!!!”
It was difficult at first for them to find a theme for their engagement shoot. However, when thinking about their relationship, they started with things they have in common. “There are a ton of things that we share in,” Anita says enthusiastically, “so we found it easiest to do it at the location were Nick proposed. We were both raised in Florida, so the tropical theme was perfect. On top of that, we both love music, as a dancer myself, and Nick as a musician. It was important to incorporate that in our shoot.” All-in-all, they wanted their engagement session to be fun, stylish, and happy.
Our wedding will be held in the beautiful Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Tampa. It will be a fall wedding. Right now we are finalizing our guest list, catering and decorations. [We are most looking forward to] the celebration, of course, but really, starting our journey together!
About the Shoot
It was definitely a fun engagement shoot. There are so many aspects to the couple’s personality and interests. With Nick being a musician, and Anita being a dancer, it was nice to be able to incorporate their passions into the shoot.
“We are both happy people,” the bride gushes, “and love to make others happy too. It’s pretty clear in our photos that we love to laugh and smile together.”
The Happy Couple on Choosing a Photographer
The primary thing was being able to really capture the beauty and feeling of our relationship and our special day in a photograph. Anyone can take a picture, but not everyone can capture the feeling of a momentous occasion. We really wanted someone who could do both.
We both felt that with the experience Castorina Photography had in shooting at the location, and in viewing the sample photography that was shown to us,…that they would be perfect.
