Andrew’s proposal was full of surprise. Ashley thought she and and Andrew were just going to the beach to relax for a bit and watch the sunset. As the sun began to set, he poured some wine and they enjoyed a few sips along with some snacks. Ashley, admiring the sunset, thought it was the perfect opportunity to take some pictures. She started playing with the self-timer on her camera, trying to capture the perfect shot. After many practice runs, Andrew, knowing that the camera was in perfect position, reached in his pocket, got down on one knee, and asked Ashley to mary him…and the camera captured it perfectly!
It all happened so quickly, his heart was pumping from adrenaline, and Ashley was shaking so much that Andrew didn’t even remember if she said, “Yes.” Some young ladies in the background noticed the entire event unfolding and began taking pictures from afar. Sitting on a blanket on Lido Beach with the sun quietly setting in the background, casting its golden hue all around, Ashley and Andrew spent their first moments as husband and wife to be.
Dinner at a beautiful restaurant was to follow, but not before a romantic run through the rain in typical, unpredictable, Florida weather. As dinner ended, Andrew suggested going to grab a few drinks. Little did Ashley know, her entire family was there, ready and waiting to celebrate the night away…the entire night! After hours of laughter, lots of love, and a trip to the Hard Rock Cafe, Ashley thought the most amazing night of her life had come to an end.
However, Andrew had even more tricks up his sleeve. The next day, family came to their house where Andrew had organized a little party. He thought of everything. The entire weekend was flawless and will hold some of the most precious memories for Ashley and Andrew as they build a lifetime of even more.
Andrew and Ashley first met in college at the University of Miami. They worked together at a sports summer camp for young children. They decided to have their engagement session at Pass-a-Grille, St. Pete Beach since they are also getting married on St. Pete Beach.
They are just handling the last little details of the wedding now – favors, seating arrangements, programs, etc.
The young couple are greatly looking forward to enjoying their first moments as husband and wife, surrounded by the people they love most.
How would you describe the theme/style of your engagement shoot?
A combination of fun/flirty and strong/serious. A formal beach wedding is what we are having and it was no different for our engagement shoot.
How did your engagement shoot reflect you and your fiance’s personalities?
Andrew and I consider ourselves a “young power couple” and our shoot embodies that.
What did you look for in a wedding photographer and why did you choose Castorina Photography & Films?
I definitely went off [of] gut feeling. A creative eye was definitely more imperative to me over a “click and shoot” mentality. Definitely quality over quantity. Marilyn and Micah at Castorina Photography and Films are different from the rest. They treat wedding photography and cinematography as an art that deserves respect rather than a job. Their personalities combined with their creative touch can’t be beat!
