Bethany and Tony showcased their hometown with an aqua and silver downtown Tampa wedding.
“Over 90% of our guest list was from out-of-country or out-of-state locations. We wanted to give our family and friends the opportunity to visit us in our hometown,” the bride explained. “It is a rare occasion that we have the opportunity to bring everyone together in one place as adults.”
The couple focused on making their Tampa wedding ceremony meaningful with personalized elements and symbols.
“The ceremony was the most important. After all, the whole reason to celebrate was the fact, Tony and I came together to make this commitment in front of our families and friends,” Bethany shared. “We incorporated our handfasting ceremony with the Morrison family tartan, and chose our vows to reflect the tone of our relationship and our commitment to one another. The readings and prayers in the ceremony alternated between elements of both of our backgrounds and our personal beliefs on our relationship philosophy.”
We were ecstatic to photograph their wedding at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts. I loved the thought of shooting in a theatre, and the environment backstage makes you feel like you are apart of an epic event. Plus, the Straz Center and their team were really great to work with.
“I was looking for a photographer who would capture our venue, as well as the glamour of a performing arts venue,” our bride explained. “I really liked how organized and professional Castorina Photography & Films were at our meeting. I could feel their passion for the craft. I fell in love with Marilyn and Micah’s photo albums. Also, in terms of their photographs, I thought they could capture the type of portraits I was looking for and the venue well.”
During the wedding reception, Bethany and Tony incorporated our mini studio, which is an open air photo booth with live photographer, instead of a machine with a camera. It allows for a large number of people to be in a photo at once and not cramped in a small space. Our mini studio allows for wedding guests to capture moments of fun, while being goofy with props.
How would you describe your theme?
We choose more of an inspiration: very simple, bringing people together. From the beginning stages of planning, we wanted to create an atmosphere that allowed for both of our families and friends to connect and get to know each other as our lives are spread across the globe. We have a strong sense that marriage is about our lives merging together, and we wanted to facilitate that sense of merging and togetherness throughout all of the wedding activities. It was a small guest list that allowed our closest family and friends to be central to our special occasion.
What were your colors?
Aqua and silver. The night Tony proposed, he had on aqua color shirt and I had on aqua shorts (not planned).
Tony took me to Grand Cypress Villas in Orlando on June 27th, which became our wedding day as well. We went to our favorite Indian restaurant for dinner. Afterwards, we came back to the villa and decided to go swimming. Tony took forever to get ready to go to the pool, and I actually fell asleep on the bed. He came out of the bathroom, and I literally jumped and fell out of bed. When I got up, he was down on one knee proposing. I don’t even think I waited two seconds to say “Yes,” and I actually jumped into his arms in excitement. There isn’t anyone else in the world I could imagine spending the rest of my life with. Plus, it was great to see him nervous for once; he is always so calm and collected.
What did you look for in a wedding photographer?
I was looking for a Tampa wedding photographer who would capture our venue, as well as the tone of our wedding. I wanted a choice of formal and modern portraits of our family to place in our home, as well as someone who could capture the glamour of a performing arts venue. We were looking for someone to capture candid moments throughout our day. Another important criteria I was looking for was the ability for the photographer to understand our vision for the day and the ability to communicate via the photos and while working throughout the day.
I really liked how organized and professional Castorina Photography & Films were at our meeting. I could feel their passion for the craft. I fell in love with Marilyn and Micah’s photo albums. Also, in terms of their photographs, I thought they could capture the type of portraits I was looking for and the venue well.
What advice would you give to brides considering Castorina Photography & Films?
As long as you give a clear vision of what you are looking to accomplish to the team, they will go above and beyond to ensure you achieve that vision. One thing that I think really helped during our time working with the Marilyn and Micah was when we took them to the venue prior to the wedding to look at various photo locations and ideas for our photographs.
